Welcome to the Department of Agronomy in National Taiwan University!
The antecedent of this department was the Crop Science Lecture and the Plant Breeding Lecture of Taihoku (Taipei) Imperial University, founded by Japanese in 1928. Following the retrocession of Taiwan to Republic of China in 1946, these two Lectures were reorganized and renamed as the Department of Agronomy at National Taiwan University. This Department was one of the oldest departments in the College of Agriculture and in the University.
The goal of this Department is to offer students broad knowledge based on which a solid career in Crop Science can be built. With an aim to promote basic and applied researches in crop science, effort has been focused on recruiting faculty members with strong background in modern agriculture, as well as bioscience. Faculty members keep enriching their teaching with the input of up-to-date knowledge and constantly bring in new ideas in their research to solve diverse problems in agriculture, supported by a regular improvement of common facilities.
